Pour Casts

Patient casts are booked in, inspected & then filled with casting plaster to obtain a positive mold of patient's foot. A colour additive is used to differentiate added plaster during the next stage.


Mark heel bisection
Heel bisection is checked & marked. This image shows rearfoot everted at NCSP before correction.

Forefoot Platform

Forefoot measurements are made, then nails added to forefoot to invert/ evert rearfoot as prescribed. Plaster is then added to this area to create a forefoot platform.


Arch Fill
Plaster is then added to arch area to provide a smooth contour between forefoot platform & rearfoot. the amount of plaster varies depending on prescription.

Heat molding.
Orthotic shell material is heated in a convection oven until pliable, then vacuum formed over cast.
